Blue Test Pattern
TV has featured large in my life. The child of a TV engineer who built a regional TV station in the 60s and transmitted the first colour TV in Australia in the 70s, our TV was always on and I spent many hours a week sharing the living room with the test pattern and its cheesy music. Today my studio is in what was my Dad’s retirement electronics studio and his life’s work is influencing mine. My test pattern paintings include collage elements from his notebooks and technical books. My interest is in abstracting the iconic image of the test pattern, so it is still recognisable but also addresses my fascination with colour and texture. The colour relationships of the original test pattern are manipulated to investigate other colour theories and memories of life during the golden years of television.
Blue Test Pattern is moody and raw with beautiful paint and colour interactions. It is signed on the back and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
